Our April 12, 2019 Spring Awards Banquet, which was attended by ~140 well-dressed Geo-Badgers and friends, once again highlighted the magnificent spirit and accomplishments of our department. The banquet commenced with 90 minutes of cocktails and socializing, after which the guests enjoyed a delicious meal. After dinner, we conferred honors on distinguished alumni Dr. Tom Johnson and Dr. Jan van Sant for their career accomplishments, and on Professor John Valley and graphics artist Mary Diman, who will retire this summer after decades of remarkable accomplishments and service to the department and university. Twenty distinct awards were conferred to more than 60 highly deserving undergraduate and graduate students for their accomplishments during the past year. The student awards which were worth more than $100,000, were funded by gifts from our generous alumni and friends. Many thanks to members of our Geology Graduate Student Association for organizing and managing another memorable banquet.
We hope that you enjoy the photos, highlights, and composite video on this special banquet web site to recall the banquet highlights or experience them for the first time.
