Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University seeks to fill 3 tenure-track faculty positions

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Washington State University announces the opening of multiple tenure-track faculty positions to continue to expand its research and teaching expertise in core and interdisciplinary areas that address global grand challenges. Applications are sought from the following areas for appointment beginning August 17, 2015. Screening of applicants will begin January 1, 2015 and continue until the positions are filled.

♦ Environmental Engineering: (https://www.wsujobs.com/postings/15284) Research areas of interest include: chemistry of pollutants in managed aquatic ecosystems, mercury and arsenic cycling in aquatic ecosystems, fate and treatment of emerging contaminants, chemical cycling in natural treatment systems, and sediment/soil remediation.

♦ Infrastructure Materials and Engineering: (https://www.wsujobs.com/postings/15283) Research areas of interest include: novel structural and materials engineering research to improve resiliency of the built environment, multifunctional and hybrid materials, multi-scale materials modeling, structural health monitoring.

♦ Water Resources and Hydrologic Engineering: (https://www.wsujobs.com/postings/15281) The preferred area is in watershed hydrology, with possible specialization in distributed modeling of water, carbon, nutrients and/or sediments at the watershed scale; vadose zone hydrology; remote sensing of watershed processes; and/or watershed management.

Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of five rapidly growing departments within the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. The Department currently has 35 faculty members, including two Regents Professors, six endowed and distinguished professorships, five Young Investigator and Early Career awardees, and many fellows of professional organizations. The department continues to grow with an active research program of nearly $8 million in extramural funding and current enrollments of about 125 full-time graduate students, and 600 undergraduate students.
