The Geology Museum is temporarily closed to the public.
At minimum we will be closed until Monday, April 13 when in-person classes are set to resume on the UW-Madison campus. As such, we have cancelled all group tours, museum storytimes, and special events through April 12. This includes our annual open house which was scheduled for April 4.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accommodate tour groups due to concerns about the current and potential impact of COVID-19. Campus leadership has been monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and is working closely with local, state and federal agency partners. In an effort to slow the spread of the virus, they have recently announced some changes to campus operations. One of these changes is that we are unable to host tours from Thursday, March 12 through at least Sunday, April 12. We’re making this change on advice of our health partners to protect the health and safety of our tour guests and employees.
Guided Tours :
Campus leadership has told us to not host tours from Thursday, March 12 through at least Sunday, April 12. To schedule a tour after that, please contact the tour office at 608-262-1412 or email our tour coordinators at email@example.com. However, due to the quickly changing nature of the situation, we may need to cancel or reschedule future tour bookings.
The Geology Museum is a popular tour destination on the University of Wisconsin Madison campus. From kindergarten classes through adult civic groups, our tours are tailored to deliver age-appropriate content to each group. Tours are approximately one hour long and feature hundreds of rock and mineral specimens, a black light mineral display and skeletons from dinosaurs and Ice Age animals. Admission to the museum is free, but for our guided tours we have a fee of $2 per person. Guided tours are available for groups of eight people or more.
