Understanding Earth's evolution to predict the future

Geoscientists study some of the world’s most pressing problems, such as energy, the environment, mineral resources, and the climate. Armed with a clear understanding of how Earth developed, we can anticipate where it’s going. The department of Geoscience prepares students to be leaders in this growing and important field.

The Department sponsors a number of events, lectures, and seminars throughout the academic year, bringing to campus thoughtful and ground-breaking research ideas from around the country.
